The world's most scientifically advanced sleep program
Sleep Genius is a sound-based sleep aid used nightly to gently train your brain into natural healthy sleep rhythms. Your ears hear soothing music, but your brain hears scientifically developed neurosensory sounds helping you get to sleep faster, sleep deeper and stay asleep longer, so you awake feeling refreshed. With over 1 million customers, Sleep Genius is the most scientifically advanced sleep program in the world, and was developed following our research helping NASA get astronauts to sleep in space. The research and technology used in Sleep Genius was recently celebrated in the 2015 edition of NASA's prestigious annual publication, Spinoff.

SLEEP GENIUS IS AN AUDITORY SLEEP AID THAT YOU LISTEN TO WHILE YOU'RE GOING TO SLEEP.
With technology created by a neuroscientist, Sleep Genius uses nearly-inaudible sounds embedded in beautiful music created to help you go to sleep faster and stay asleep longer. Sleep Genius works where other products don't, because it uses two natural approaches to sleep. It triggers the motion-induced sleepiness that babies experience while being rocked and that most people feel while riding as a passenger in a car or train. The music simultaneously entrains the brain to the slower brainwave rhythms needed to sleep. This combination results in a sleep that's natural, easy, restful and refreshing.
HOW SLEEP GENIUS WORKS
THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND SLEEP GENIUS IS BASED ON OVER 15 YEARS OF RESEARCH IN HEARING, BALANCE AND SLEEP BY NEUROSCIENTIST SETH HOROWITZ, PH.D. IT IS A NEW APPROACH TO HELPING PEOPLE OF ANY AGE GO TO SLEEP MORE QUICKLY AND STAY ASLEEP LONGER. SLEEP GENIUS USES THREE KINDS OF SOUND THAT WORK DIRECTLY ON THE BRAIN IN DIFFERENT WAYS.
- Very low frequency sounds activate the vestibular system to trigger Sopite syndrome, the motion-induced sleepiness that babies experience while being rocked and that most people feel while riding as a passenger in a car or on a train.
- Quiet "pink" noise shaped to match the sound signatures of heartbeats and breathing reduces activity in the brain's arousal centers to encourage relaxation.
- Binaural beats — slightly different sound frequencies delivered to each ear to trigger frequency-following response between the brain's hemispheres — help the brain match the waveforms that characterize the stages of sleep.
THE SLEEP-INDUCING TECHNOLOGY EMBEDDED WITHIN THE ACOUSTICALLY MODIFIED MUSIC CREATED FOR SLEEP GENIUS USES ALL THREE METHODOLOGIES.
Ad-hoc clinical testing has demonstrated the effectiveness of these algorithms in inducing sleep by reducing sleep latency and increasing efficiency in subjects ranging in age from 1 to 62, and has been shown to decrease sleep latency, increase sleep efficiency or both in up to 77% of people with normal binaural hearing.
MUSIC CREATED FOR SLEEP GENIUS
The acoustically modified music programs within Sleep Genius were composed, arranged, and recorded specifically for aiding sleep. They were created by Advanced Brain Technologies and an international team of experts, leaders in music effects research and production, psychoacoustics, and neuroscience. They include Vera Brandes, Alex Doman, Seth Horowitz, Lance Massey, Richard Lawrence, and Joshua Leeds, among others. Each of the four music programs provides soothing, unobtrusive, instrumental music with subtle sounds of nature, and ambient music that entrains the brain to improve sleep regulation. Embedded within these beautiful recordings are proprietary neurosensory algorithms that produce sleepiness. The result is a sleep that's natural, easy, restful, and refreshing.
WHAT TO EXPECT
WHAT YOU'LL HEAR
You will be listening to gentle instrumental music. Embedded within the music are nearly inaudible sounds that combined help you get to and stay asleep. Listening to Sleep Genius produces a calm, relaxed, drowsy feeling.
What will be most noticeable when you begin listening are the very low frequency rumbling sounds that move binaurally from side to side between your brain hemispheres. These are the sounds that activate your vestibular system and triggers Sopite syndrome creating the rocking or swaying sensation that helps you start the sleep cycle. For some this takes a little getting used to since it sounds unfamiliar and may in fact make you want to lay down when you hear it. That is a good sign! Less noticeable are the "pink" noise bands which lower arousal, quieting brain activity. The binaural beats are also subtle, working quietly in the background to entrain the brainwave patterns required to cycle through the sleep stages throughout the night until you awaken feeling rested and refreshed.
HOW LONG DO YOU USE SLEEP GENIUS?
When you're ready to sleep, you'll play the sleep inducing audio programs quietly throughout the night until you awaken after a sound night's sleep.
While Sleep Genius is immediately effective for some people, it is recommended that you listen for seven nights per week for at least one month before you determine whether or not it is an effective sleep aid for you. This is how long it takes for most people to stop "listening" to the music and nearly inaudible sounds. Once you habituate (become familiar) to the experience, you'll transition from listening to "hearing" Sleep Genius. It is when you reach this point the auditory program becomes most effective.
The goal is to train your brain until it improves and maintains positive global sleep patterns. Once this occurs, you should be able to discontinue the use of Sleep Genius, only using it on an as needed basis. This will take approximately 3-6 months for most people.
WHAT'S THE SCIENCE?
Advanced Brain Technologies assembled an international team of experts to create Sleep Genius; leaders in music effects research and production, psychoacoustics, and neuroscience. The team was chosen and lead by Alex Doman company founder and CEO, and co-author of the bestselling Healing at the Speed of Sound.
The sound technology behind Sleep Genius is based on over 15 years of research in hearing, balance, and sleep by Seth Horowitz, Ph.D., neuroscientist and author of The Universal Sense. His work as been funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, The Deafness Foundation, and NASA.
"This is the next generation of sleep aids," Dr. Seth Horowitz.
Dr. Layton Tolson ran an ad hoc clinical trial conducted among children and adult patients with active sleeping problems. 77% of people between ages 1 and 62 who used Sleep Genius went to sleep faster and stayed asleep longer.
A double-blind study will soon be underway at Oregon State University.
In the study, participants will be housed at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center where they can be monitored by machines that will measure their brain waves, heart rate, stress hormones, saliva, and the neurotransmitter oxytocin levels.
"We are hoping to get a lot more physiological data and we will be interested in their sleep cycles, because we'll be able to measure their cycles for changes in response to the music," said Sarina Rodrigues, assistant professor of psychology, who will oversee the study.
